Babies first haircuts

It is kind of a life moment, so I had to capture the day on film.
First up, MissRaylyn.  One last hug from floppy and then in Mama's lap for the cut.

Wow, looks better already.  Chin down and a little bit more off the back.  Melissa may have teared up a bit during the process.  Those first time Mama's, geez!

Next up MissLayton.  She has tons of curls, so we did not worry about the trim of a few them.
All three girls were perfect.  No tears and they took everything in.  Then they each got a fancy certificate and the first clip of their hair to take home.

And finally, MissHadley.  Even a few smiles from her.
MissAllyAnn (we get to meet her in February) and Mom was there.  Plus, AuntLynley and Nanny too!
"Hmmm.   Maybe next time a manicure?! These nails are looking awful Mom."

If diamonds are a girl's best friend...

Then caulk is a baseboards best friend.  Not what you expected by my post title?

Don't be afraid of this super easy project.
If you don't have a miter saw, ask beg a friend to come and cut your baseboard pieces for you.  In my case, it was my hairdresser.  Really!  We talk a lot while he is working his magic and he offered to come over and cut my baseboards, so hey, what's a girl to do.
Step one, above I liquid nailed the boards in place. No nails required.  I let them dry overnight.  Step two, goop your caulk in all the seams.

I interrupt this tutorial to show you my arsenal of tools.  Warm water (to clean hands and wring out my rag) Caulk gun, (cheapo is my brand)  and rags.
Protection for your knees and work clothes.  I am ready!
Extra tip: I cleaned my hands well between each section, for a fresh start.
I would leave a gap by the grout line for easier clean up.
Below you see first, the swipe with my wet finger on on the left. And then the second step, a clean wipe with damp rag on right.  It does not dry quickly, so you can take all the time you need to re-caulk and re-swipe.
Final step... stand back and admire your handiwork.  Let dry overnight and then add a final top coat of paint on the trim and walls.

Eat your black eyed peas!

Texas Caviar makes it easy to eat your black eyed peas on New Year's Day.
(this recipe did not come from Southern Living 1987 Annual Recipes)  I just happened to prop my plate there.

Drain and rinse one can each of black eyed peas and Northern white beans
Add
small diced green bell pepper (half of one)
small diced red bell pepper (half of one)
sweet corn about 1/2 cup
three green onions chopped
one avocado diced
juice of half a lime squeezed over avocado
toss with 4-6 ounces of Italian salad dressing
Pepper to taste
I left off cilantro - not a fan!

chill and serve with chips
(I used Trappey's with jalapeno black eyed peas of course)

For a fun New Year's gift idea for friends, check out this old post here.
